A lot of things were going to happen on 30th September 2050.

Zoe was looking outside her apartment window from the thirteenth floor which was located in Bandra, Mumbai. She was watching the running cars and thinking, “How busy life has become? There were so many people who had to go through several deadlines. What would happen if the calendar skips a date? Will the world be similar after that? Will the world really stop for a day? If it happens, how will things be affected? Can this really happen?” She was lost in her thoughts when someone knocked on her door and said, “Zoe, come out of the room. Look, your aunt has come to meet you.” It was Zoe’s mother. Zoe was in her late adolescent years. She was a young beautiful girl with dark brown eyes and long curly hair. Zoe’s face was round and beautiful, just like her mom. She had no other siblings. Her father was in the real estate business and her mother ran an NGO. Zoe loved her aunt more than anyone in this world. Zoe’s aunt was the only one with whom she could share anything without the fear of getting judged. Zoe’s aunt was actually her mother’s sister but completely opposite of her mother. She was an ambitious lady who ran her business alone. She didn’t marry out of her choice. She treated Zoe like her daughter.

Zoe ran out of the room and happily hugged her aunt. Her aunt hugged her back. “You are going to stay with me today, aren’t you?”, said Zoe.

“No dear, I have a very important meeting tomorrow and I must attend”, said her aunt.

“Oh, Come On! You can attend your meeting online. You aren’t going anywhere.”, replied Zoe.

After Pondering for a while, her aunt nodded in a yes. Around 7:30 p.m., Zoe switched on TV. She wasn’t interested in news channels but she just stopped her channel skimming seeing the headlines. The headlines read, “Australia Skipped a Day.”

“Wait! What? How is this possible?” said Zoe loudly in a shocking voice.

Zoe’s dad asked, “What happened?”

Soon Zoe’s family sat in front of the TV. Australia has skipped a day, 30th September 2050 has been erased from the history of Australia. The calendars erased, 30th September 2050. All the printed matters had erased 30th September 2050 itself. All the digital devices showed the date as 01st October 2050. That was unbelievable. They continued watching TV and when the clock struck 12 in India, the same thing repeated. All the calendars erased 30th September 2050. Zoe quickly glanced at her smartwatch and it displayed the date as 01st October 2050. Soon the same news followed from Dubai and Germany. The scientists in the UK and the USA were closely observing everything but the same thing repeated with them as well. All the printed calendars erased 30th September 2050; all the digital devices displayed the date as 01st October 2050. The brochures and tickets which had 30th September 2050 were left blank in the place of date.  As a result, the 30th of September 2050 has been miraculously removed from the earth in every aspect.

The world was in a perplexed state. Nobody could figure out what was going on. The Government officials who were to execute military deals with the U.S. Govt. sat in silence, waiting for a reply from their counterparts. Aarav sat looking at his smart watch which displayed the date as 01st October 2050. Aahana couldn’t understand whether she had to attend her exam or not. Aahana’s father was continuously discussing with his colleagues over the phone about the incident that just took place. Aqsa stood silently looking at her hands that were adorned with henna waiting for someone to say something about her marriage. Whether it is today, tomorrow or when? Zain reached the airport and knew that his ticket was no longer valid as his ticket displayed no date and it wasn’t written if it was an open ticket. He looked at the ticket with shock. The same thing happened with Mrs. Patel when she went to board the train. She was filled with tears thinking of missing her niece’s wedding.

In Germany, the officials weren’t able to decide whether to inaugurate the bridge today or push the inauguration date further. Walter went for his job but he was told that his letter had no joining date and so he had to reapply. The anxiety consumed Petra because her launch date, 30th September 2050 was erased and she didn’t know what to do next. The football team sat in silence without exchanging words, waiting for orders from higher officials. Lea’s flight ticket was cancelled and her dream of meeting her lover after 2 years was also cancelled with that. Her heart broke in silence. The new automobile company members looked at the brochures in shock which displayed no date.

In the U.S, the collaboration of the world leaders stood at a halt. Zelie’s friends rang her up repeatedly to confirm if the inauguration was today or postponed. Everly sadly looked at her lovely wedding gown which was lying on her bed. James’ project was cancelled and his career was on halt. Sherly’s cake order was cancelled because the customer didn’t want it anymore as it was for a birthday party that had been cancelled. Mr. Michael’s shoot was cancelled. International Translation Day which was going to be celebrated was cancelled because there was no longer 30th September 2050 in the world. The teachers and students were both depressed.

In Britain, the cultural event that was going to be held on 30th September was cancelled. Isabella was perplexed and didn’t know whether she should continue with her launch activity or postpone it. Mr. Sherlock got a call from the channel informing him that his show would be aired at a later date. Ava and her friends were unsure if the exam paper would be on 30th September or 01st October. Oliver’s parents didn’t return and tears rolled down his cheeks. Brittany’s deal was cancelled. Ralph’s supervisor called him and informed him that his presentation was not required anymore.

In France, Esme had to reschedule all of her appointments and figure out what she was going to do next. Daniel’s perfume brand was no longer going to be launched today. Eloisa was asked to wait for her next joining date. Doreen’s appointment was cancelled and so was her step towards healing. Camille got a call from her client informing her that the contract with her was cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.

In Australia, officials had to cancel their implementation of new rules for foreign travellers and work on the incident that had just taken place. Willow’s concert was cancelled and she drowned in sadness. William sat quietly looking at his meat pies and thinking whether anyone would buy it. Aria’s tennis match was cancelled. Little Daisy was crying inconsolably as her excitement had just got a powerful blow. Sarah’s legal battle date has been rescheduled and she will have to wait for another date.

In Dubai, the tax reforms were cancelled and scientists were scrambling to figure out how 30th September 2050 disappeared. Saeed’s new restaurant inauguration date was postponed. Maryam had to wait for another date to join Dubai University as a lecturer. Omar’s promotion letter was denied and he was asked for things to settle down. Alfiya’s car delivery date was postponed and she had to wait for another call from the car company. Rashid has to wait for more to fly to India.

Scientists all over the world were working to find out how 30th September was erased from all the printed materials. There were a lot of questions but there was no one who could give proper answers. Scientists from all around the globe were working tirelessly to find out the reason. Finally, a group of scientists arrived at a conclusion. The earth had completed its rotation in 0.001 seconds on 30th September 2050. It was an unnatural phenomenon. The artificial intelligence that had covered the world in 2050, erased 30th September 2050 from all written materials and all digital devices. The AI detected the unnatural phenomenon way before humans could even think about it and to make the world aware, it deleted 30th September 2050.

Zoe was lying on her bed beside her aunt, talking to her and explaining to her how she thought about the world skipping a day just hours before it actually happened.

Her aunt told her “We live in a world where natural miracles and man-made miracles co-exist. We are advancing technologies and building things that are far more intelligent than us. Have a good night’s sleep, Zoe. Everything is fine now.”  Zoe thought, “Whether this would happen again or something worse than this? What will happen to man when natural miracles and man-made miracles start colliding often?” With a head full of thoughts Zoe dozed off to sleep

  1. At this time, it seems like WordPress is the preferred blogging platform available right now. (from what I’ve read) Is that what you’re using on your blog? Great post, however, I was wondering if you could write a little more on this subject?
